Cozmo is a small, interactive robot. Designed to be a companion and playmate for children and adults, Cozmo has many features that allow it to learn, play games, and interact with its environment. With its expressive LCD screen “face,” built-in wheels, and range of sensors and cameras, Cozmo can move around and interact with its surroundings in various ways. In addition, users can program Cozmo using Code Lab, a graphical programming interface based on Scratch Blocks that Anki developed, to create their programs and routines for the robot to perform. As a result, Cozmo is a fun and engaging companion that will delight users of all ages. [Cozmo released on October 16th, 2016]

Revisions

Cozmo 1.0/1.5

Cozmo 1.5

Cozmo 1.5 was the first revision of Cozmo from 1.0, it is mostly the same except the gearboxes are quieter and it gives Cozmo a back button. This is also the Cozmo revision that all the Special editions are based on.

Cozmo 1.7

Cozmo 1.7 was a revision of Cozmo that was being worked on by anki shortly before their demise, it makes the gold part of the back lights black, and some parts formerly gold now red. The largest change was the replacement of charging pins to a micro-USB port along with quieter gearboxes adapting the design that was used in Vector. The port was added in order to save costs as the charging dock wasn't made and the gearboxes were changed due to the Vector design being cheaper to make. This revision never made it to consumers as Anki had went bankrupt before they could release it.

Cozmo 2.0

Cozmo 2.0

Cozmo 2.0 is DDL's revamped version of Anki’s Cozmo robot — it's meant to be a revamped, more robust, and supported follow-up to the charming 2016 gadget. Cozmo 2.0 is meant to be a repainted Vector 2.0 with new software. However, Digital Dream Labs (DDL) has faced significant controversy and criticism for failing to fulfill many of its pre-orders, with numerous backers still waiting to receive their Cozmo 2.0 months or even years after placing their orders, fueling growing frustration and uncertainty within the community.

Special Edition Cozmos

Cozmo Interstellar Blue
Cozmo Collectors Edition/Liquid Metal

There were 2 special Cozmos, made with a unique look compared to the original Cozmo.

  • Interstellar Blue - This version of Cozmo makes any red or gold parts of Cozmo blue, and has white treads. (these treads cannot be found anywhere else)
  • Collectors edition - The other version of Cozmo, made with liquid metal as suggested by the name. It has a grey color palette.

In Cozmo app versions 2.x the Cozmo text would either have a blue and white theme (Interstellar Blue) or "Collectors Edition" under the logo when either of the bot types were connected.

Prototypes

Cozmo 1.7 (Technically a prototype as it never made it to production)

Cozmo 1.7 was a revision of Cozmo that was being worked on by Anki shortly before their demise, it makes the gold part of the back lights black, and some parts formerly gold now red. The largest change was the replacement of charging pins to a micro-USB port. The port was added in order to save costs as the charging dock wasn't made. This revision never made it to consumers as Anki had went bankrupt before they could release it.

Cubemo

Cubemo is an Adafruit Feather nRF52840 Sense running heavily slimmed down Cozmo 1.0 firmware, made around June 2025 in order to test connection to Cozmos cubes for Cozmo 2.0.
